We are committed to supporting the charities and causes that our people are most passionate about.
As a responsible employer and corporate citizen, HIGHVERN is committed to giving back to the communities in which it operates, aligning our giving with causes close to the hearts of our employees. We support a number of organisations and projects which aim to help strengthen each community, both through our Environmental, Social and Governance work and through a diverse and active Corporate and Social Responsibility strategy. Every HIGHVERN team member has a say in the direction of our approach to Corporate and Social Responsibility – this means we can all take pride in knowing that our work will make a tangible difference where it matters most.
We are working with new colleagues too as our group expands internationally. In Jersey alone we encourage participation in many of the main charitable events such as the Swimarathon, Rowathon, Dragon Boat Racing, Island Walk and The Jersey Marathon and often provide sponsorship for our employees on other charitable projects they are involved with outside of work. Each member of staff is also entitled to 1.5 days a year to dedicate to a cause of their own choice. Currently that’s over 100 days a year. Follow our Instagram page to keep up to date with our latest sponsorship and fundraising activities.
Our current community projects include:
Jersey Festival of Words
HIGHVERN is the main sponsor of the Jersey Festival of Words, a literary event that promotes the love of the written and spoken word across our community. The five day event will bring acclaimed authors to the Island as well as showcasing the talent of local writers, poets and visual artists. This event promises something for every age and is a great way to explore books as a family. HIGHVERN held a school postcard design competition for the Festival and will be handed out the winning designs to be posted to loved ones free of charge.
HIGHVERN Pollinator Project
We have partnered with St Helier Parks to create a series of wild pollinator patches around St Helier in Jersey, helping pollinators and maintaining a rich biodiversity. HIGHVERN have planted a patch of sunflowers on People’s Park with plans for further patches to appear in the autumn. Keep an eye on our social pages for updates of our pollinator trail.
Big Channel Islands Beach Clean & Littlefeet Environmental
We sponsored the 2022 Big Channel Islands Beach Clean, which took place in January and included events in Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, and Sark. Following this event we wanted to continue to help marine life and improve the quality of our local beaches in Jersey, partnering with Littlefeet Environmental on a series of beach cleans throughout the year, inviting the public to get involved and recording findings to assist the charities work. You can find details of the beach cleans here.
