HIGHVERN sponsored event brings War Horse to life

In addition to its role as main corporate sponsor of the Jersey Festival of Words, HIGHVERN was delighted to host and support one of the most anticipated events of the Festival, a reading of extracts from ‘War Horse’ by its author Michael Morpurgo, accompanied by music from the West End show, performed by Ben Murray.

The event coincided with the 40th anniversary of the novel and Michael’s 80th birthday and was held at Jersey’s old Odeon cinema, now known as the Freedom Centre. HIGHVERN guests were treated to a drinks reception and the rare opportunity to meet the author, along with the gift of a special anniversary edition of the novel with signed book plate.

The performance itself captivated the audience, delivering an emotional retelling of the story brought to life by the author and complimented by the talent of musician Ben Murray. A rare treat for islanders and literary fans alike.

HIGHVERN was proud to have sponsored the event and the Festival for the second consecutive year, helping the island, schools and local community celebrate the written word in its many forms and an age-old love for books.
